Flat Land Loveliness was created en Plein Air on Old Dobbin Road near Dobbin, Texas. The “Trespassers will be prosecuted” sign had me setup just off the roadA with the fence clearly between the scene and me. The traffic was light and I enjoyed meeting a few people who stopped to chat when they came up on the spectacle of someone painting what they pass by daily.
A highlight of the afternoon was meeting a property owner who’s roots go way deep in the area. Jeff was delightful and provided so many insightful details to the area that I’d chosen to paint. One of them being how important this body of water is for the all agriculture and ranching that sustains this area.
I was completely stunned when a van pulled up and the occupant knew me! What a small world, and on a tiny road that only locals travel in south Texas where I’d chosen to paint.!
“I thought that was you.” said my Facebook friend who I was delighted to finally meet in person. Who, by the way, is an accomplished artist as well.
In moments like these I know I’m really living the dream.
I was honored to visually walk the scene, loving on every bit of it as I endeavored to capture it for generations to come.
I also shot a little video clip for the Sedona Plein Air Event that I’ll be participating in this fall. Such a great afternoon.
