The Myth of Pandora and her box has always intrigued me. The first woman, created as punishment to mankind with a gift from each of the Gods. Beautiful and curios in possession of a box that contained all the illnesses and hardships of man, that she was never to open. Well, she opened it, which was the intent of the Gods.
Eve partook of the forbidden fruit in the garden of eden. Two stories of the first women and what has come into the world because of her choice. I like to imagine that Pandora recognized that hope also resided in the box of horrors, and gracefully allowed all to come forth. Resolute, resigned, but choosing to see, just like Eve.
Do each of of us carry a box of horrible things, maybe wounds or trials from the past? Perhaps only in courageously "Opening" the box, and choosing to see, can the hope we each need come to be.
