Fractal Thinker

The Fractal print behind Ryland in this painting was his creation. I thought it was beautiful and wanted to include it in his portrait. His mother made the oversized print and I put it in one of my frames. Ryland sat for over twelve hours for this painting. I enjoyed every moment with this very intelligent young man. We had many interesting discussions and one time I was so intrigued by a comment he made I asked him to remember it so I could ask him more about it during a break. I wanted to give his observation my undivided attention and that could not happen while I was consumed with value, edge, color.....
